Seven new IVECO Stralis 500 trucks, painted in DuPont™ Cromax® Deep Purplish Blue, were handed over to the Fiat Yamaha Team during a ceremony at the Autodromo Nazionale in Monza, Italy, on 15 April 2010. The trucks were used for the first time at the second round of the 2010 MotoGP season in Jerez, Spain, to move the Fiat Yamaha Team equipment including the Yamaha YZR-M1 bikes, spare parts and hospitality equipment. They will continue to be a feature at European circuits for the rest of the race season.
The contract to paint the trucks was signed between DuPont Refinish Italy and Yamaha Motor Racing in March 2010. The trucks have not only been painted with DuPont™ Cromax® waterborne basecoat and DuPont™ 3800S clear coat, but will also be sporting the DuPont Refinish liquid car logo along with the tagline “painted by DuPont Refinish” – a special request made by Yamaha.
Marco Riva, general manager of Yamaha Motor Racing, says, “during the winter break we thought about modernising our equipment and transportation vehicles with the intention of maximising their efficiency by increasing the quality of the materials used. The bikes are, of course, the most highly visible vehicles, especially for the TV audiences, so their appearance is critical.”
